Hey Bolin. [She opens the door and peeks her head inside.] Mind if I come in?
[It's silly to think he would. They're friends. And yet somehow, she's still a little nervous about it. (Then again, she's been nervous about pretty much everything since getting shot. She just doesn't let other people see it.)]
Yeah, don't be a- [Oh. OH MAN.] -stranger. [He attempts to sit up rapidly, which results in a lot of very undignified flopping about and an incensed Pabu- look, he doesn't care for getting beaned by flailing limbs, thank you very much, so he scurries up Korra's body and settles on her shoulder because she is civilized.]
I'll have no snide commentary from the peanut gallery. [Grumble, grumble. But at least he is in a sitting position now, away from the door to give her plenty of clearance. ] My palace is yours, dear lady.
[She laughs a little and scratches Pabu behind the ears.]
Thanks. [She shuffles in and settles down on the edge of his bed. (It'd be polite to ask first, but it doesn't occur to her because there's no way she could sit on the floor.) She then carefully moves Pabu from her shoulder (of course he'd choose the one that got shot) to her lap.]
I haven't had a chance to ask. How're you settling in?
[Fire ferret instincts aren't always top caliber. However, Korra's lap is just as agreeable as her shoulder, so Pabu curls up quite contentedly there. Bolin, meanwhile, has shifted around to face the bed, and leans his back against the dresser. Relaxes. Now that they're both in the same close quarters, this silly...whatever it was seems a lot sillier.]
I'm still getting used to the idea of the City again, you know? But I'm grateful I remember it- for my sake and for yours, too.
[At least she isn't alone, at least someone else gets it.]
It was pretty weird, Mako and Asami not remembering anything. [Not as weird as Mako arriving and thinking she was his girlfriend, though. She's still not entirely sure how to handle that.
She runs her hands gently over Pabu's fur, glad to have the little fire ferret back too.]
I'm ready to chuck away this stupid cane. [She hasn't told any of them much about what's happened to her in the months they've all been gone, but she did have to tell them about the shooting. Kind of hard to miss her limping around like an old lady.] But I'm okay. I've gotten a lot better at airbending. I'll have to show you some of my moves when I can really, you know, move again.
Hey now, your cane is the cane that will launch a new fashion craze, mark my words. And I will gladly bear witness to the airbending aficionado at work.
[There's a lot more he could say right now. Could continue cracking jokes, could pussyfoot around the heavy stuff and keep things light and...well, airy, but Korra is Korra no matter where or when or how, and she's his best friend. He can't imagine what she's gone through in the months without them- her being shot was bad enough.
Regardless, it's time to start acting like her best friend.
Abandoning his current spot, he kneels in front of her and takes both of her hands in his own.]
I'd hug you, but I don't want to jostle the injuries. Nothing wrong with a little improvisation, huh?
I'm not made of glass. [But she smiles, because he really is one of the sweetest, most genuine people she knows. She appreciates that more now that she's become involved with Hei and tangled up in his web of lies & secrets.] Get up here. It feels weird with you on the ground.
[Guuuuuuuuuuuuuurl, his memories may be hazy, but he remembers Hei. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH HEI, KORRA. ARE YOU GOING TO GIVE BOLIN MORE HEART ATTACKS.
In any event, he does as she commands and joins her on the edge of the bed, resting his weight lightly against her side.]
[IT'S A LONG STORY. That Bolin probably doesn't want to hear. At all. So it's a good thing he doesn't know about it to not want to hear it. Or something. Point is, yes, she probably is going to give him more heart attacks.
For now, she just rolls her eyes and lightly bumps him with her hip.]
